492nd SOSS medic responds to multi-vehicle car crash

Tech. Sgt. Ryan Kainrath, 492nd Special Operations Support Squadron independent duty medical technician, tests life saving equipment at the 492 SOSS March 23, 2023. Kainrath spent the past four years receiving training as a medic assigned to Air Force Special Operations Command. He trained in combat medicine, as a paramedic, and received extensive, hands-on training in emergency trauma. His training helped save lives in a multi-vehicle car crash. 492 SOW, Det 1

At Robins Air Force Base, in Warner Robins, Georgia, there is a small but critically important detachment of the 492d Special Operations Wing that exists primarily to develop mission data. Detachment 1 was established in 1985 in order to develop, modify, test and maintain Mission Data for assigned Special Operations Forces and mobility air forces aircraft. Originally created as an active duty unit, it evolved over time to a civilian and contractor workforce thereby providing increased continuity and profound expertise. Since inception Det. 1 has fervently worked to produce essential mission data to enable AFSOC and AMC defensive systems.

492d SOW POTFF team leads way with neurofeedback capabilities

The 492d Special Operations Wing Preservation of the Force and Family, or POTFF, is now helping service members discover how to improve their cognitive abilities through a process called neurofeedback. Through ‘brain mapping,’ the 492 SOW POTFF Cognitive Enhancement Team, works one-on-one with Airmen while engaging in a variety of tasks that measure what their brain does well, as well as areas they’re not as strong in.
